Training Opportunity

I have to thank my neighbor for providing me with a unique horse training opportunity today. When he came barreling down the hill with his red ATV, his grandchild screaming in the passenger seat, I had the chance to practice my horse focusing skills. Instead of looking, my horse was turned around my inside leg and asked to go forward. He kept on ear cocked on the shenanigans, but remained mentally present with what we were doing in the ring, not with what terrors lurked beyond the fence. You just never know when a “training opportunity” will strike. Be ready with the skills in your tool box, and sharpened. (I’m taking a dose of my own advice, believe me.)
