We have an embarrassment of riches in this area when it comes to international level horse competitions and shows. During the months of September and October alone, we are treated to so many exciting competitions in the PA, MD, VA and DC area, that it is tough to pick which ones to go see. Starting in September is the Columbia Classic Grand Prix for jumpers, quickly followed by Dressage at Devon, then the Fairhill International for world class eventing, and Harrisburg and the Washington International Horse Show, which has something for everyone. Add to the competitions the horse-featured show “Odysseo” now playing in DC. The kind Cavalia people who put on this amazing show were offering discount tickets for this week because of the Federal workers’ furlough. I’m sure there are many that I missed listing here, but I certainly hope to make it to a few to watch…if for nothing else, for inspiration! Do any of you have a favorite world-class show you can’t miss each year?
